In the summer heat, 
we were slick with sweat,
running through the tepid water at breakneck speed.
The rough waves made us roller coaster riders
and the mesh beach chairs,
sore and tanned tip to toe.
The metal stair railings had given into the humidity,
the morning dew ran off them like piss.
We were happy.
